A high-level delegation of government officials and private sector representatives from South Sudan visited Kisumu County, Kenya, to assess potential markets and establish trade links for fish exports from South Sudan.

The delegation was led by Mr. Leo Okwahi, Director General at the Ministry of Trade and Industry. He was accompanied by Hon. James Majok Maluach, Minister of Fisheries for Jonglei State; Mr. Juma Charles from the South Sudan Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Adam Kubanja, Chairman of the Association of South Sudan Manufacturers; and Mr. Kennedy Kenyi Lodiong, a senior member of the same association.

The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral trade relations and explore market opportunities for South Sudanese fish products within the Kenyan market, particularly in Kisumu County, which is a key hub in the Lake Victoria region.

The discussions also covered potential partnerships, investment in cold chain infrastructure, and improving quality standards to meet regional export requirements.
